What is mPulse Hand Sanitizer?

1) WHAT MAKES MPULSE DIFFERENT THAN OTHER HAND SANITIZERS?

In addition to killing 99.99% of germs on contact the technology in mPulse provides extended protection for up to 8 hours, increasing protection with each use and reducing microbial colony reproduction on hands. Many Alcohol-Based and other BZK Hand Sanitizers will effectively kill 99%+ of germs on contact, however after evaporating these sanitizers lose protection quickly, creating opportunities for microbial colonies to reproduce at high rates.

mPulse’s proprietary moisturizing technology is designed to prevent dry cracking of hands and leave the protective layer of natural oils intact. When used at concentrations necessary for hand sanitization alcohol will strip these protective natural oils from our hands, drying our hands which allows for cracks in the skin to develop. Dry cracking on skin can create entry points for dangerous pathogens to enter the bloodstream making these technologies paramount in protecting hands when sanitizing.

When using mPulse the FDA does not require post application hand rinsing prior to food handling, unlike the rinsing requirements imposed upon alcohol-based hand sanitizers making mPulse a safer option for food handling.

2) WHY IS MPULSE A SAFER ALTERNATIVE TO ALCOHOL-BASED HAND SANITIZERS?

In order to be effective an alcohol-based hand sanitizer must contain intoxicant, and potentially fatal amounts of 60-90% alcohol making them highly flammable. These concentrations create a higher tendency of skin irritation and if contact is made with eyes can cause severe eye irritation as well. Ingestion of alcohol products can lead to severe health complications which can be particularly concerning as there have been cases where alcohol-based hand sanitizers have been ingested to become intoxicated.

3) WHAT ACTIVE INGREDIENTS DOES THE FDA ALLOW TO BE MARKETED TO CONSUMERS?

The FDA currently allows only Hand Sanitizers with the active ingredients Alcohol (Ethanol or Isopropyl) or Benzalkonium Chloride (BZK) to be legally marketed. It is recommended that consumers avoid the use of any hand sanitizers that use any other active ingredient.

4) WHAT IS BENZALKONIUM CHLORIDE (BZK), THE ACTIVE INGREDIENT IN MPULSE?

BZK is a quaternary ammonium compound with biocidal properties that is frequently used in hand sanitizers and disinfectants. BZK is considered non-toxic, low risk for skin irritation, and non-flammable when used in the lower concentrations necessary for hand sanitization.

5) HOW EFFECTIVE IS BZK BASED HAND SANITIZER?

Independent studies have shown BZK to be as effective as alcohol-based hand sanitizers when deactivating dangerous pathogens.

6) IS BZK EFFECTIVE AGAINST COVID-19?

A study conducted by Brigham Young University and published in The Journal of Hospital Infection on November 28, 2020 determined that BZK can inactivate SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19, within 15 seconds of Contact.
